State General Administration of Sports conducted a survey of the Status Quo of mass sports in China for the first time in 1998. The result shows that masses of urban and rural residents to participate in community sports sites are the common forms of exercise activities. Community sports sites of its loose form of organization, voluntary participation, the principle of freedom to come and go and variety of sports contents to attract the broad masses of grass-roots level. However, due to the complexity mass membership of the sports-sites, loose nature of the organizational structure, diversity of motivations to participate in sports and some other reasons, there still have difficulties exist in the management. Research it, to strengthen the management of grass-roots mass sports sites, can not only improve the grass-roots levels'fitness benefits, but also have great significance to social harmony and stability.In this paper, documentation, questionnaire survey, expert interviews, comparative research methods and statistics have been used to study the status quo of Beijing community sports sites, we make out its organization and management status, fond the main difficulties and the main factors which affecting the development of Beijing community sports sites. We have reached the following conclusions:1. Self-formed and self-management are the main form of Beijing community sports sites, most of the sports sites are less than 60 people. People are mostly retirees over the age of 50 and most of them are women.2. Time mostly concentrated in the morning and evening; projects show "non-competitive", "rhythmicity", "combining Tradition with Modernity" and "light physical training"; squares, parks are the main place that they exercised. Beijing community sports sites are financed mainly by membership dues; funding for most of the sports sites less than 50 yuan per person per year.3. Instructors of Beijing community sports sites mostly are the sports backbones; only 24.3% of them have social sports instructors, largely concentrated in the 2nd and 3rd level; 93.5% of the social sports instructors directed for free; Satisfaction Index to the community sports sites which have social sports instructors to guide the members is higher than the sites without social sports instructors; community sports sites which belongs to sports administration departments, neighborhoods and communities and sports associations managements'social sports instructors penetration rate is high.4. The main difficulties exist in firstly is the venue equipment can not be guaranteed, followed by the lack of unified management, the lack of trained instructors and funds are also obviously. Sports administration and government departments are in the absences of supervision to Beijing community sports sites.
