| The issue of Rural teacher professional development is the key of the basic education's quality which is the most pressing issue in rural areas. In this study, rural teachers chosen from Jingyuan County of Baiyin City in Gansu Province.After learning data, the status of Jingyuan County's rural teachers is studied by the self Questionnaire, the outline of the interview, actual observation and data collection. 820 teachers had questionnaires and 30 teachers and 17 Vice-Directors accepted interviews, which were form 17 schools in seven county towns. The study carried out the important and the main reasons of the current professional development of teachers in rural areas, which is the basis of my targeted measures and suggestions.The main conclusions of the study include:1.Teacher learning is the primary factor on the professional development of teachers in rural areas.2.Schools where teachers are working have a great impact in the professional development of teachers in rural areas. Teachers are limited by the school system and had to repeat some inefficient works, crowding out learning time. So teachers can hardly take into account their own professional development.3. Teacher training for the professional development of rural teachers has a great influence. The current teacher training stay away from the actual teaching in some term; it is difficult to meet the teachers' practical needs.4. Treatment of teachers has certain impact on professional development of teachers in rural areas.Based on these conclusions, the study of how to enhance the professional development of teachers in rural areas put forward proposals and measures, including: Teacher learning should be most important in administrative departments at all levels of schools, and which must provide all kinds of learning conditions for teachers; teacher professional development is a eternal theme of a school which should provide protection systems for development of teachers; teacher training should base on teachers' long-term development and self-development. |
