The study is regarded the students which are in the stage of compulsory education as the target. Those students come from rural family from six poverty counties of three provinces in Northwest, and with the decision of family education investment for research content. Objectively describe the status of investment behavior of rural family education at the stage of compulsory education through a combination of questionnaire and interview methods to collect information. Besides that, to analyze the general rule and impacts of rural family investment in education in the way of the economic income,individual characteristics,polices and regulations. In order to improve the benefits of rural family education investment in ethnic minorities'area and promote the training of ethnic minorities to provide the meaningful reference at last.The thesis is divided into five parts. The first part is introduction, to promote the research issue, research purpose and significant, theory basis, research methods and contents, as well as data sources and the fundamental state of survey target.The second part is documents review. This part is mainly introduce the research theory,methods and results of the cost of education and the decision of children′s entering school at home and abroad.The third part describes the status analysis of rural family investment in education in the area of northwest ethnic minorities. Through analyzing a large number of sample data from different points of view to discuss the differences between the status and behavior of rural family investment in education.The forth part is the impact factors analysis of rural family investment in education. To research the impact factors of family education decision by using the measuring method.The last part is conclusions and policy advices. According to the research results to get the conclusions and give some advices.The research has got some results as follow. There is no obviously differences in different sexes children of education decision in rural family; The family has paid more attention to the study quality of students; The situation of domestic economy has positive impact on rural family investment in education; There is no significant impact on the parents'occupation in the decision of family education investment; The number of getting an education of father has shown impact on the family educational expenditure; In the area of ethnics, the per capita education investment of family with many children is relatively small, and the children from that family are easily dropped out; The policies and regulation has a positive effect on the family education investment.
