Reading strategy is a reading process students have the ability to utilize different sorts of skills to read different linguistic materials correctly and fluently. The efficient Reading strategy will help the learner improve reading ability. During the process the learners can learn by themselves by conscious -self management. The study of reading strategies are to be increased, from skimming the text for the main idea, scanning the text for specific information, reflecting on what has been learned from the text to connecting text to background knowledge and paying attention to text structure (Grabe and stroller, 2002:83)Reading is one of the important ways for people to obtain knowledge, to get information, to communicate and to take pleasure. Promoting the students' reading ability is greatly emphasized in New English Curriculum standard. we know ,once one possesses the ability If reading by himself ,he has the ability to learn by himself ,then he has a firm foundation for his further study "New standard" emphasis: Teachers can help students organize information express their ideas, carry out reading and writing activities by mapping ways. A map can form the text structure by audio-visual way to show the information connections of the text. We conduct the study of application of text mapping in senior school reading teaching .Its purpose is to study if the strategy of text mapping is efficient in senior English teaching .I think that we should improve our students' ability of thinking and expressing English in English using key words and text structure.There are 112 passages in senior text books in all, in which narrative and expository texts are 90; taking up about 80% of the total .It is difficult for students to read. To improve reading ability, the students should grasp basic reading strategy, which is text-mapping. By doing the experiment, I prove using the strategy we can analyze the basic structure of the text, show the connections of each part of the text orderly, and get the main idea of the text. Meanwhile we can improve students reading ability.
