With the development of psychology and Pre-school education, there were more researches on mentation and characters of young children. Because of the particularity of young children, the limits of their mind and junior level of language, some methods of research which are suitable for the adults cannot be used in studying the problems of young children. Without the help of talking, there must be other things treated as mediums to get the young children. Thus , the young children's visible behaviors are focused by the researchers ,which including the young children's innocent words, plays, dreams , art crafts and so on.The drawing of young children is a very important art in all of the children's crafts. The maneuverability and convenience of young children's drawings, make this kind of art much more used than other art crafts, like the clay culpture, paper-cuts. The drawings of young children get more and more interesting for researchers.The research about young children's drawing started in the end of 19 century. Through several transitions , there are four main research tropisms remaining.The present study includes two researches to prove relationship between the development of pre-school children self-consciousness and their human figure drawing.In the first research, 90 of 4-6 years old have been chosen from a common typical kindergarten of Shanghai as participants. The difference should be found according to three ages when using a questionnaire and interview.In the second research, we focused on the children' human being figure. The same 90 participants were asked to draw two kinds of pictures which one is drawing them self as similar as possible , the other is drawing them cooperate with others. The author measured the two pictures in several items. The final results show that the scores of pre-school children's human figure can expressed the developmental level fo self-consciousness.Base on the results, a further study was applied to the young children's human figure drawings. A qualitative research on the pictures show that, along with growth of young children there is several directions of drawing of self ,more complicated , more similar to self ,more detail-drawings and so on. The drawings of self are becoming more referred to scenes, more discriminative when the young children grow older. The element of gender will effect the mode of representation in the drawings too.In the practice of pre-school education, as a teacher or parents can use children's human figure drawing to observe the kids ' self-consciousness. As a tool ,the young children's human figure drawing should be treated as an information sender to tell the adults there is something they must be paid more attention to .
