Research On The Parents As Volunteer In The Kindergarten

The parent volunteers in kindergartens refer to the preschool children's parents, grandparents or other guardians who volunteer to provide assistance and service for kindergartens by taking full advantage of available resources. Making researches on it plays a vital part in diversifying the cooperation between family and kindergarten, bringing into play the complete function of education, developing teacher's specialization, improving educational level of parents, broadening the scope of voluntary service and carrying forward the spirit of voluntary as well.First of all, the dissertation summarizes the literatures at home and abroad on the theme of "Parent Volunteers in Kindergartens", assesses their advantages and disadvantages, interprets its enlightenment for this study. Then based on this, the thesis introduces the social exchange theory, the need theory and the reference group theory, which lay the foundation for theoretical basis and approach this study from different angles.Three major approaches applied in the dissertation to collect information on the parent volunteers in kindergartens, such as interviewing method, which interviews kindergarten heads, teachers and parents, the observation -to observe the activities of them, and documentary analysis, gathering and collecting related literatures.The present situation of the parent volunteers in kindergartens is investigated and analyzed systematically, including the value, the recruit, the rights and duties, the guidance, the evaluation and the influence factors. On this basis, there are five achievements in using parent volunteers in kindergartens: have a full realization of the value of them, diversify the recruitment, tend to pay attention to rights and duties, try to find flexible ways of guidance and enhance the evaluation. There are also some problems, for instance, the short range of recruit, the undefined criterion of rights and duties, the incompact and superficial guidance, the incomplete evaluation system, the lack of unasked using parent volunteers. The influence on parent volunteers from kindergartens, families and society is also referred.The thesis makes several suggestions for parents, kindergartens, and institutions, so as to put together the power of education and working cooperatively to and to improve the quality of using parent volunteers .In the end, there are some limitations of the research.
