The assessment of biological experimental skills in high school is an important issue in the reform of the new curriculum. The study of performance assessment in practical level provides advice and suggestions for researchers concentrating on education and teachers working in high school.Based on the reference study, the paper clarifies and examplizes the definition of experimental skills and performance assessment, and the basic theory; then by the questionaires a general knowledge of the present situation of experiment course provision and experimental skills assessment in liaoning province is acknowledged, the difficulties are discovered in the actual assessment. The paper theoriotically studies the necessity of the usage of performance assessment about experimental skills, and not only studies but also carries out the steps of performance assessment; taking typical verification experiments and inquiry experiments, the paper makes a research on the application of performance assessment in the evaluation of experimental skills of biology of high school including the fixing of experimental targets, the forming of experimental standards, the choice of experimental tools and so on. The results reveal that it is feasible that applying performance assessment in the evaluation of experimental skills of biology of high school; in the teaching, teachers choose, organise, use a few performance tasks to evaluate the important skills wisely, which can solve the problem of time encountering in the experimental skills assessment. I make some suggestions on the experimental skills assessment in biology of high school: realizing the ideas advocating by the new curriculum, applying the performance assessment in the curriculum evaluation; inventing and creating experimental tools; expecting the reform of college entrance examination.
