The ethnic minority issue is an essential issue in today's world,and is widely cared,concerned and researched by the world's multinational states.Minority educational problem is much more related to the development of its local society, economy and culture.The Miao ethnic minority autonomous prefecture in west Hunan local area is an area of "old,few, border,mountainous and poor".It is affirmatively practical to make research on ethnic education in west Hunan area,against the background of today's national constructing a harmonious society,and practising scientific outlook on development.This dissertation mainly researched five aspects as following:Exordium:This Chapter mainly made a definition on the concept of research on ethnic education in west Hunan after founding of the P.R.C.Then it expounded the significance of the selected subject,research achievements at home and abroad, research methods,and innovation.Chapter One:Development steps of ethnic education in west Hunan after founding of the P.R.C.This chapter mainly divided its developing process into three periods:Resuming and developing period(1949-1965),institutional revolution period(1966-1977),reform and opening-up period(1978-now), and narrated the basic information of each period.Chapter Two:Achievements of ethnic education in west Hunan after founding of the P.R.C.This chapter narrated its elementary education,secondary education,vocational education,adult education,normal education,higher education; non-government founded education,the changes of the teaching staff,and the development of teaching scientific research,as well as summarized the achievements of ethnic education in west Hunan after founding of the P.R.C.Chapter Three:Problems and insufficiency of ethnic education in west Hunan after founding of the P.R.C.This chapter analyzed the problems and insufficiency in terms of education environment,education expense,position and balanced development of education,and so on.Chapter Four:summarization and thoughts.This chapter mainly made some suggestions and thoughts toward the future development of ethnic education in west Hunan.
