Great attention has always been paid on housewifery education in some foreign countries as well as in Hongkong and Taiwan. As a result, housewifery courses are offered specially for primary and secondary students. In recent years, housewifery education has been gradually promoted, achieving a lot of progress. However, there also exists lots of problems and difficulties. The reseach on it is late, with only a few theritical and random discussions. Only a few introduction on the implementation of it in foreign countries. Therefore, the domestic study on it is quite weak. So, by means of the investigation of its present situation at Shangyou primary school in Yongchuan and also on the basis of summarizing its achievements and experience, this paper pays more attention on its problems and reasons, so as to put forward some practical strategies.Four parts are incorporated in this paper:Some aspects, including the study contents, purpose, its originance and significance, the definition of some relevant concepts, the key points, difficulties and innovations, the study ideas as well as its research methods are mentioned in the first part.The second part summarizes the three theories, including the housewifery education theory, the quality education and the life education, which support the study. And then, the review of the Status Quo of academic research and its implementation home and abroad are followed.The third part analyzes its present situation and its existing problems at Shangyou primary school in Yongchuan, aiming to find out its reasons. The following contents, such as the students' cognition and attitude towards housewifery education, the implementation situation of the school, the facilities and their usages during housewifery classes, the equipment of teachers, its teaching materials, contents, evaluations as well as its effect are covered in the questionnaire. On the basis of the research result, this paper analyzes the existing problems and its reasons.The teaching principles and strategies to improve the housewifery education in primary schools are discussed in the fourth part. In order to enhance the effect, we should abide by the following principles: the principle of specialization, participation, integration and cooporation from parents. Guided by these principles, the writer tries to put forward some concrete strategies: firstly, we should improve our ideological cognition so as to transformate our ideas; secondly, safeguard systems for housewifery education must be consummated by schools; thirdly, we should improve the quality of our teachers; fourthly, on the basis of absorbing the useful experience, the teaching materials must keep up with the times; fifthly, teaching methods should be innovated; sixly, corresponding appraised and courageous mechanisms must be established; seventhly, cooporation among homes, schools and communities should be encouraged to facilitate the implementation of housewifery education.
