Chinese martial arts is profound and can go back to ancient times, taking our Chinese traditional culture of moderation, harmony between man and nature,advocating virtue. However, its development is experiencing a bottleneck. Modern sports is flourish and unlimited potential, taking the thought of western science,democracy and freedom. It has become the trend persued by countries all around the world. Chinese martial arts and modern sports both exist in Chinese schools:the text books of martial arts goes into sports class. The article treat it as a starting point.At first, we distinguish the concepts of traditional martial arts,new martial arts and sports: martial arts and sports belong to different culture and their essential character are different too. We take it as a logical starting point. it analyse minghang middle school in Shanghai for a case. We discuss deeply teaching effectiveness from the aspect of teaching content of martial arts, teaching form, martial arts of physical education teachers, study status of students and teaching evaluation act. The result is that the school has arranged a large number of human,materials and time,but martial arts teaching has little effect. We can see that the contents which students learened in martial arts class are far from the true meaning of martial arts. And students can't remember what they had learned after a period of time.Second,martial arts is Originally a practical art of attack and defense methods.It stresses practical effect.So it has a theoretical basis for the corresponding if we explore the effectiveness of teaching martial arts schools in Shanghai.we analyse from the aspects of the basic situation of martial arts classes, students of the cognitive value of martial arts classes, the performance of students in martial arts class, the effect of that students have learned from martial arts in physical education, students expectations on martial arts classes and the special quality of physical education teachers through the survey of students and interviews with physical education teachers of 6 secondary school in Shanghai. In terms of overall, the six secondary schools in Shanghai exist deficiency in the all aspects of the development of the situation of martial arts classes, the enthusiasm of students, the value of recognition of martial arts classes, the teaching ability of teachers. Therefore, to some extent,it can reflect that there are the issues for teaching effectiveness of martial arts in shanghai middle school.Then it seek to influence factors of the effectiveness of martial arts teaching: for one hand, result of dominant role of physical guiding ideology in school physical education curriculum of China. The text books of martial arts, as the content of physical education curriculum,have become a means of enhancing the physical fitness of students; for the other hand, The text books of martial arts, which play down the meaning of art of attack and defense and offense and go to the pursuit of error for high, new and beauty, depart from the nature of martial arts itself.At last, the article concludes with an ideal type of martial arts classes should be reasonably accurate after positioning in order to explore further how to improve the effectiveness of schools in teaching martial arts, which mainly take measures from the teaching materials of martial arts, teaching staff, students selection and so on.
