In this paper I explored the impacts which the traditional martial arts have on the learning effects of traditional martial arts and the cultural awareness with the example of Southern Shaolin Dishuquan, by explaining the geographical and cultural background, the technical characteristics and the state of the development of traditional martial arts-Southern Shaolin Dishuquan, which is based on the master of Southern Shaolin Dishuquan, using the way of literature data, comparative study, questionnaire, teaching experiments, and mathematical statistics, with the students of2010public sports who have elective course of martial arts in Fujian Normal University as experimental subjects for12weeks,24hours of teaching experiments. The results show that:Firstly, Southern Shaolin Dishuquan as an example of traditional martial arts can enhance students’ cognitive learning to martial arts, affective performance and the spirit of cooperation, exercise and health awareness in the martial arts sports and fitness, martial arts culture and of ethical spirit towards martial arts as well as students’ knowledge of traditional martial arts, which is better than teaching the Five-step Boxing and Junior Boxing in accordance with the teaching content of the martial arts in the school of public sports martial arts elective course syllabus. The majority of students have had a strong interest in culture and skills of traditional martial arts-Southern Shaolin Dishuquan. In the24hours of teaching, the traditional martial arts-Southern Shaolin Dishuquan did not have great impact on the exercise and health awareness of the students.Secondly, the results of the comparison of the gender differences in the experimental class show that boys in martial arts are excellent to learn cognitive and affective performance, spirit of cooperation and exercise and health awareness than the experimental class girls, but there are no gender differences in the aspect of martial arts culture and ethical spirit towards martial arts.Thirdly, the results of the teaching practice of traditional martial arts-Southern Shaolin Dishuquan show that traditional martial arts teaching content is easier to enhance students’ reception about the traditional martial arts and the interest in learning than the outline of the martial arts teaching content. Fourthly, the results of teaching practice of traditional martial arts-Southern Shaolin Dishuquan show that after the experiment the understanding of the students in the experimental class about traditional martial arts is improved greatly than before. The degree of loving the traditional martial arts is also improved. The students know more about the importance of the culture of traditional martial arts comprehensively and get a deeper understanding of the culture of traditional martial arts.
