The SOLO Taxonomy (structure of the observed learning outcome) Evaluation Theory which is researched by John Biggs and Collis for a long time is a qualitative evaluation method which derive the reasonable part of Piaget' s Theory on Development of Cognitions, after education evaluation reaching to the period of constructivism. Because it is very suitable for our score skill of openness test and realistic need for method delay, it attracts a lot of researchers. This paper goes through the background, theory basis, and main content of SOLO, illustrates its system info, and evaluates its application on openness test evaluation of various subjects in secondary education stage. Because this theory is applied in history of university entrance examination of recent years, this paper mainly research the application value in history, the value is not only reflected in history open-ended test, but also reflected in contribution to history teaching improvement. Based on this theory, I do experiment on history thinking training. Various history training tests is implemented on the students of experiment class. Based on classic partition of thinking level, special improvement training is focused on the students. Scientific analysis of experimented data and Tracking survey indicate the history thinking improvement training not only excite the learning motivation of students, but also effectively improve the quality and ability of history thinking of students. At last of this paper, based on research status, the disadvantage and the reason of SOLO taxonomy evaluation theory applying for history teaching are discussed, and some strategies are brought for these disadvantages.
