AbstractWith the advance of the Chinese curriculum reform,Multiculturalism in Chinese education get more and more attention.Foreign novels teaching in middle school is an important channel for students to open eyes and learn the world which showes different property between Chinese culture and foreign culture.There are big differences in terms of their values,ways of thinking and the emotional pursuit.However,the status quo about foreign novels teaching in middle school is not as good as we thought for its unique culture property hasn't been highlighted.In order to find out the reasons,I distributed questionnaires to students and teachers of middle schools in Handan city,Hebei province.After analyzing the feedback,I find that teachers'ideology is low,their knowledge is limited,the students have no interest in foreign novels,elective materials are single text and lack of readability and so on.These conditions are particularly prominent under the background of co-existing multi-culture in today's China.In such a socio-cultural transition,a huge explosion in knowledge,information without borders against the backdrop of the reality,how to improve the school situation of the foreign novels teaching? How to stimulate students'interests in learning,teachers'in teaching? We need an in-depth study of the problems.Facing with this situation,I introduced multi-cultural perspective targeted foreign novels teaching for middle schools.That is,analyzing foreign novels from a variety of cultures and different cultural perspective in order to improve the students'reading ability and aesthetic standards.At the same time,multi-cultural education is a connotation,studying foreign novels enable students to enhance awareness and understanding of multi-cultural Furthermore,leading them to respect culture of different countries and nations in order to cultivate a correct attitude toward different cultures.On the basis of illustrating western culture as the core foreign heterogeneity,the thesis deeply analyzes the foreign novels teaching as educational function in middle school,and analyzing the multi-culture of foreign novels text from the subject,the pursuit of value,the genre style,seeking to explore necessity and feasibility from the start of foreign novels teaching from multi-cultural view.And to make a more-depth study on the relationship between foreign novels teaching and multiculture through teaching objectives,strategies,as well as evaluation on teaching of middle school.I wish that it helpful to foreign novels teaching in middle school.In connection with the actual situation of foreign novels teaching in middle school,according to three aspects of teaching objectives based on foreign fiction,I intended to explore the middle school teaching foreign novels countermeasures from three areas(including the six countermeasures):Firstly,for the students who do not learn,teachers who conduct "cold treatment",I insist to find a number of ways to nurture students interest,to change the current status.Secondly,modes of thought and cultural differences are prominent features between Chinese and foreign culture.To cultivate divergent thinking through multi-read text,a variety of criticisms,to cultivate comparing thinking modes and creative thinking modes through vertical and horizontal comparison etc which will improve students' reading and appreciating ability.Finally,seeking emotional resonance by reading novels featured with foreign culture,comparing with local culture then analyzing so as to nurture students correct attitude towards different cultures and values.All in all,this thesis researches from the multi-culture and multicultural education theory and its application in foreign novels teaching in middle school,looking forward to improving teaching status.
