Although thoughts about vocational education have a very long history in China, vocational pedagogy was introduced from Western countries. At present, research about vocational education is rather weak. Though vocational pedagogy has appeared in the form of a discipline, the disciplinary status of it is quite controversy, for the reason that it hasn't got its own well-conceived theoretical system as a discipline. This study bases on the theory of Thomas Kuhn's Paradigm and the theory of Disciplinarity. By looking back on the history of vocational pedagogy construction research, this study points out that there're three problems in doing vocational pedagogy construction research at present. Firstly, research about vocational pedagogy is far from enough; Secondly, researchers tend to follow the trends without considering the reality; last but not least, the researchers seem to lack in breakthrough creativity. The writer reflects on these problems both in a macrocosmic sense and a microcosmic sense and draws a conclusion that the process of improving vocational pedagogy construction is the process of coping with disciplinary crisis. This study analyses the trends of vocational pedagogy development and elucidates the future tendency of doing vocational pedagogy construction research. The four tendencies are as follows: reference-based orientation, problem-centered orientation, cross-disciplinary orientation and indigenization-focused orientation. Based on the reality of present research, the writer finally provides four approaches of improving vocational pedagogy construction research. First, the researchers should make the best use of others' experience when using reference and they should be well-aware of creating some original theories when doing vocational pedagogy construction research; second, the researchers should find out some valuable disciplinary problems and center on these problems when doing vocational construction research; the researchers should establish the disciplinary consciousness when doing vocational pedagogy construction research and be open-minded; the researchers should create their unique disciplinary discourses system of vocational pedagogy. This study aims at providing some valuable references to consummate vocational pedagogy.This study belongs to theoretical research. This study adopts such approaches as documenting, comparison and historical analysis to vocational pedagogy construction research in a narrow sense from the knowledge aspect of a discipline.
