Life style is the established way of living in people's dynamic course of life. With the deepening social reform, college students are faced with intensified change towards modern lifestyle. Modern factors have objectively penetrates their health conditions and their values on health. While the alteration of the modern lifestyle is conditioned by the social environment and impact, it has strong effect on the attitude and adaptation of individual college student towards his/her health.Generally speaking, the previous studies, both home and abroad, have differently and respectively interpreted the physical and mental health self-evaluation from the lifestyle of college students, offering the health features of physical condition, mental and social adaptation. This certainly has laid important foundations for the further study in the field. However, either due to the complex interrelationship between lifestyle and physical and mental health self-evaluation, or limited by a single perspective or relatively simple methods, these studies have not reached the expected ideal level. The problems concerned are to what extent lifestyle effect on physical and mental health self-evaluation, how different lifestyles affect physical and mental health self-evaluations, etc. Many problems are still left for further study. We presume that, due to the discrepancy of the natural and social environments in which college students live, in adapting to those environments there is distinctive difference among individuals, including different physical conditions, mental attitudes and cognitions, social health values and behavioral patterns. Diversified lifestyles effect on health self-evaluation at multi-levels. Therefore, in a sense, a certain lifestyle may play a notable role in health self-evaluation. Yet in most cases, reciprocal influence between lifestyles would affect more on the health values and behavioral patterns of college students. Based on this view, this research tries to explore the complex process of physical and mental health self-evaluation under the consideration of the lifestyle dynamic interactions, studying the relationship between the lifestyle of Shanghai college students and physical and mental health self-evaluation by the way of multivariate regression analysis in such a complicated dynamic interaction. Thus, this study illustrates the effects on students' physical and mental health self-evaluation, which result from the factors of collegiate lifestyle. We can safely conclude that the study will be inspiring in forming healthy lifestyle of college students, fostering modern sense that is based on the idea of constant overall health for sound body and mind. The conclusion of the study is shown as follows:1. The testing model with independent variable (lifestyle) and dependent variable (physical and mental health self-evaluation) adopted in the study has high discrimination validity, it validates the significant relation between the independent variable and dependent variable by the way of gradual multivariate regression linear equation analysis, effectively accounts for the physical and mental health self-evaluation of college students.2. The lifestyle factors, such as the time of exercise, frequency, fatigue extent, enough sleeping, average of sleeping time, sleeping quality, difficult in getting up, meal time, breakfast deficiency, regular leisure time, and online/TV time, etc, can distinctively affect the physical and mental health self-evaluation of college students. Physical exercise depending on time and frequency of exercise carries most weight on health self-evaluation. It is notable that the level of health self-evaluation declines as the increase of exercise tiredness.3. Healthy lifestyle has positive effect on physical and mental health self-evaluation of college students. The higher sleeping quality, the more regular leisure time and dieting, the higher self-esteem in the physical and mental health self-evaluation; while the factors which have increased the risk of lower self-esteem in physical and mental health self-evaluation are irregular life and meal time, breakfast and sleeping time deficiency, insomnia, excessive computer game or online/TV time, etc.4. Sex difference brings remarkable discrepancy in relation to the physical and mental health self-evaluation from collegiate life, suggesting there might be distinctive lifestyle difference due to sex difference.5. The significance of correlation for the variables in unifactor correlation analysis may not necessarily appear in regression analysis model because unifactor correlation analysis is carried out by limiting other variables. Instead, each variable in gradual multivariate regression analysis and the correlation to the physical and mental health self-evaluation are resulted from the reciprocal effect of all variables. Therefore, the possibility of modification can't be ruled out in which new variables are introduced.6. Lifestyles positively or negatively affect physical and mental health self-evaluation. The university and college should orientate their students towards healthy lifestyle, and prevent them away from the risks in physical and mental condition brought about by the unbalanced lifestyle, inspiring and fostering modern life sense that is based on the idea of constant overall health for sound body and mind.7. Make full use of physical exercise which take positive part in orientating towards physical and mental health by the way of offering plenty of space for physical activities after school, and apply to them the physical education achievements available. Thus, physical activities both in and out of class will have a good effect on each other to form healthy lifestyle.8. Top priority must given to physical and mental health in principle. The innovation of physical education can not be limited in books and classes. Physical education must open to the society. It must take advantages of the influences of society and nature to improve the students' social adjustment. Physical education must offer facilities and atmosphere favorable to form a positive, healthy lifestyle, in which the sense of physical exercise and lifelong physical exercise has to be fostered.
