The Traditional Family Division Versus Participation In Modern Society: The Roles Conflict Of Female

In families, so many women are bearers for housework, although they must work to make money in society. The reason is that hidden gender system's potential operation exists in most families. As the specific performances, the traditional division and fertility pattern remain in the family. In addition, the whole society misunderstands "strong women", so female will prefer to return home. At the same time, it is a new period now, and the society has a new beginning: "full-development" becomes contemporary theme. Therefore, capacity development, spirit development, personality development and so on, which are the composition of the female development, are very important for every woman in this era. Women begin to show themselves in every field. Specially, they come out from narrow family, and walk toward a new, broad, free and open society. They act not only a single role, but also an important role in the world. They want to become free and full-development persons. So, the female must accept the examination about good wife and loving mother, and it is a request from traditional society. On the other hand, it requests the professional female to accept the competition in the modern society. It makes that female must have the traditional feminine charm, and also have competitive ability. Between ideal and reality, family and career, a great many women have the problem of roles conflict. Women change between tradition and modern, and they must keep balance between two rules. From the facts, we have to deeply think some questions.In the paper, two key elements "traditional family division" and" participation in modern society" are the focal points for analyze. Two backgrounds' objectivity, culture and rules gather on the female, and it makes roles conflict happening. The essence is the response of gender culture, and it includes gender division, gender rules, gender ideas and gender values. Through the whole train of thought, the hypothesis is that two power make female roles conflict, and the power are "tradition" and "modern", which have each form and existing element. The power "tradition" by "family division of labor" form recessively operates in life because of history inertia. However, the power "modern" in the form of "participation" exists in life. So, roles conflict happens. In it, the core power is a huge effect of the gender culture. Through this hypothesis, the paper begins to discuss. This paper is written from two main lines:"tradition" and"modern", and it have two core concepts:"family division" and "participation in society". This study carries out the essence of the urban professional female existing roles conflict. My hope is that women's feeling and experience could be shared, and their situation could be understood and supported. We can pay attention to women's lives and development. Maybe I can give some helpful suggestions for female liberation.
