Research On The Undergraduate Innovation Spirit And Practice Ability In Research Universities

Innovation is not only the soul of the national progress but also the inexhaustible dynamics of country development. The 21st century is the knowledge economy age, now it is a great factor to restrict the innovative ability and competitive ability of our country that whether has the international- level creative intellects. And research universities as knowledge innovation and knowledge production, knowledge dissemination and application of knowledge, innovative research and high-level training bases, have arduous task in the country's innovative system building, therefore, timely to construct the research universities with Chinese characteristic is not only a significant and urgent task in the strategic programming of college development, as well as an important problem of the higher education. Undergraduate education is the key of the research university, only do we recognize the importance of the undergraduate education, and cultivating a great number of innovative intellectual, the research university may bring a leading play in the society indeed.This paper focuses on the innovation spirit and practice ability of the undergraduates in the research university, the auth first analyzed and defined several important definitions such as innovation, innovative spirit, practice ability, research university, etc,briefly summarizes the existing theories & practices of the famous research university of other countries, later the actuality of the undergraduate education in the research university are analyzed and a reflection on successful reform experiences included about several famous research universities at home, then learning from the successful experience of first-class universities abroad, innovating educational idea, reforming traditional teaching models, strengthening the building of the contingent of teachers, optimizing campus environment, and improving system security, trying to probe for the effective ways to cultivate the innovative spirit and practice ability of undergraduates in our research university.
