Culture Change And Development Of General Education Curriculum In The Universities In Modern Times

General education is the eternal theme of higher education. Nowadays, with the accelerating process of globalization, cultural communications become more frequent than ever. At the same time, culture conflicts take on new forms and characters. Under the circumstance, it has become an important question that how to reform general education curriculum, so that it can adapt the requirement of culture changes. The present study is about the different period of culture changes in Modern Times. Also this article reviews the general education curriculum in the background of culture changes. So we can find out the relations between culture changes and general education curriculum. At last, we analyze the circumstances of the current Chinese culture and put forward the thinking of the replying of general education curriculum.Firstly, the article explores the relations between culture changes and curriculum.Secondly, the article reviews the Chinese culture changes and development of general education curriculum in Modern Times. It analyses the characters of the culture and change with corresponding general education curriculum in the leading period of traditional culture, Opium War Time and the period of the New Culture Movement.At last, the author analyses the culture circumstances of Nowadays China and try to construct general education curriculum in the new culture background. In the globalization times, there are culture conflict and identity between national culture and foreign culture, traditional culture and modern culture, scientism culture and humanism culture. Therefore, we must reform the general education curriculum in time and renew its conception rationally, so that the general education curriculum can meet the need of culture changes. Concretely speaking, we should prosper the national culture, simultaneously respect foreign culture and enhance the understanding of it in general education curriculum in the universities. We should increase the learning of traditional culture and achiever its own characteristic development. Also, we should promote the identity of scientism culture and humanism culture. In addition, it is of great importance to make effort to develop the new culture literacy, which is needed in the globalization times.
