Homework design plays a very important role math teaching. However, many teachers have paid less attention to it for a long time. Most of the students are tired of doing their mechanical homework over and over again. As a result, the students can not make progress in mathematics learning. Their ability of learning is also restained.In my research, I define five functions of math homework according to the theories of new curriculum reform and my teaching practicalities.1.To learn knowledge and train skills.2.To improve mathematical thinking ability.3.To offer feedback in teaching.4.To enrich learning style.5.To evaluate students roundly.On the other hand, I also conclude four principles of homework design.1.To arouse the students'enthusiasm for mathematics.2.To play the students'autonomy.3.To be concerned about the students'diversity.4.To feedback on teaching timely.Finally, I will give some examples of homework design combined with my teaching practicalities.I also make some experiments on how to design math homework effectively, which are based on the above mentioned theories. After experiments, the students'grade, their attitudes to the homework and the learning habits have changed. We can draw a conclusion that as long as the teachers design the homework effectively, the students will get better results in math learning and their ability to analyse and solve problem will be improved.
