Attitude toward physical exercise is a comprehensive evaluation of the physical exercise participant on cognitive valuation, affective experience and behavior intent. One of the tasks of the Physical Education in school is to help students obtain a favorable attitude of physical exercise and cultivate them a positive physical exercise behavior. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the attitude and behavior of the middle school students in Taiyuan Shanxi on physical exercise with the psychology theory of attitude and behavior, and to propose a reasonable suggestion solving the problems.First, according to the survey, the attitude of middle school students in Taiyuan on physical exercise is in normal distribution. The general level of the middle school students' attitude on physical exercise is favorable. And the attitude of junior middle school students and school boys are much better than the students in senior middle school and school girls respectively.Second, the behavior of the middle school students in Taiyuan is not so satisfying mainly because of the weighty studying tasks and limited leisure time accordingly. The behavior of the students in junior middle is also much better than the ones in senior, so is the boys to the girls.Third, among the seven factors those affect the attitude of physical exercise, the exercise atmosphere, PE class, facilities and physical condition of the students have more influence than the other three—teachers, parents and classmates.The three evaluation factors—cognition, affection experience and behavior intent are having more and more impact on the attitude of the middle school students in Taiyuan in a row. The affection factor determines the behavior intent when cognitive valuation disagrees with the affective experience. Therefore, a well affection experience of physical exercise should be helped to be done to cultivate the middle school students a benign physical exercise attitude.The correlation between the attitude and behavior of the middle school students in Taiyuan on physical exercise is positive with a correlation coefficient at 0.369, which is presented by the comparison between the positive attitude and the inactive behavior. So it is not possible to improve the physical exercise behavior only by forming a favorable attitude.The attitudes and behavior of students on physical exercise from different schools are diversified according to the comprehensive education condition of each school.Studying the correlation between the attitude and behavior of students on physical exercise is to find guideline and method improving the physical exercise behavior. To solve the problems mentioned above the following suggestion is proposed:The exterior factors would have little influence on individual attitude and the behavior of him/her could be consistent to it, when the individual is having an intensive attitude on physical exercise. Cultivating a strong and stable physical exercise attitude would help students form a favorable behavior in the light of a favorable attitude.Attitude, when the exterior factors' impact exceeds the interior spirits, would fail to determine the behavior. The good attitude of the middle school students in Taiyuan doesn't successfully help them form a satisfying physical exercise behavior because of the unpleasing exterior factors. Therefore, education for all-round development must be fulfilled to afford the school boys and girls more leisure time.The diversity of comprehensive conditions between different schools must be narrowed to make schools at all level could support same or less differentiated sports education and physical exercise atmosphere.Make the status of physical education right and reasonable, so the students could have a rational attitude and valuation on physical education.
