| In English class, traditional teaching approach cannot strengthen students' ability of English. The introduction of cooperative learning approach, which befits for students' carrying out language practical activities, will undoubtedly make up the deficiency and it will play a quite important role in English teaching. Therefore, the idea of cooperative learning should be a significant teaching idea in senior high school.Cooperative learning is based on some theories such as the social interdependence perspective, cognitive Elaboration Perspective, and constructivism. Many educational experts in home and abroad have conducted a series of educational reform and experiment and prove that this teaching approach is effective. This article discusses in the following aspects: concept of cooperative learning, theory foundation, and cooperative learning approaches used home and abroad. It presents that cooperative learning approach is important for students to use a language and cultivate their practical capability in EFL classroom. Therefore, "group work" learning approach cultivates autonomy, team spirit, cooperative spirits and innovation.The author of this thesis chose two classes to make an experiment. One class is experimental class, the other is control class. The subjects are from class 3 and 4 in grade 2 of a senior high school. The traditional teaching methods are still used in control class, while cooperative teaching approach is used in the experimental class. In this experiment, the author used class performance observation method, interview method, questionnaire, and data analysis method. The experiment lasts 19 weeks.The result of the experiment shows that we can greatly improve students' comprehensive language skills by using cooperative teaching approach and this approach is warmly welcome. |
