| This study focus on the communication between graduate students and their advisors, we use qualitative methods such as open-end and closed questionnair to investigate 328 graduate students and 59 advisors. After data analysis we found there are several serious problems in the communication between the students and professors:â‘ Advisees and advisors'communicating positivity both should be strengthened.â‘¡The communication between advisee-advisor puts much more attention on learning knowledge and ignores emotional teaching to some degree.â‘¢The frequency and depth of communication between advisee-advisor are not enough.â‘£Graduate students lack of communication with other advisors besides their own professor.We also find that there are some differences between different kinds of graduate students. Female students have much lower satisfaction with advisee-advisor communication; the communicating expectation of Grade one is strongest; the students in arts subject have much stronger expectation and they think the communication effect is much better than the students in science, the students in science communicate with other advisors more frequently; the students who want to do research after enter graduate education have much higher sufficiency and satisfaction with advisee-advisor communication.Aiming at these communicating problems between advisee-advisor we propose some suggestions to improve it. For the graduate students, they should adjust their studying objectives, focus on what they should do, and increase their communication positivity. For the advisors, they should strengthen their liability, enhance their knowledge level, and learn how to manage time. For the education and university supervisors, should reform the graduate education system, grantee it can execute efficiently. |
