Constructing socialist harmonious society is a great historical assignment during the modernization process in our country and rural area is the key component. Developing sports activities and physical culture is very useful for both socialist countryside construction and socialist harmonious society construction. In our country, the research of physical exercise in the new rural area is mainly on the current situation of the sports development in the township. Scarcely study the sustainable development of the physical activities, especially considering the generation of the physical exercise, new rural productive labor and life style innovation.The author of this subject chooses some league branch secretaries and farmers in different counties of Shandong province as the research object. Give a broad research on the rural sport grounds and facilities and the situation of physical activities. During the research and investigation, using the methods of questionnaire, direct interviews, Delphi method (also called expert investigation method) and data statistics, objectively analyze the development of Shandong rural sport grounds and facilities and current situation of physical activities, and comes to the conclusion as follows: 1. There are fundamental material conditions for developing physical activities in Shandong rural area, and the farmers have strong awareness for sports.2. The physical activities which are developed in a long time are mainly traditional sports items, such as Yangge, Martial Arts; some urban sports items such as basketball, Ping-pong. And also some newly arisen sports items.3. Farmers in Shandong province think that the sustaining sports items are the local traditional ones and the newly arisen ones which are available to the rural production and the life style. Work out the countermeasure for sustainable development of rural sports items in Shandong province: to develop new rural economy and to improve the farmer's substance life level basic guarantee of sustainable development of rural sports items; Stand on the rural production and the life style is the source of sustainable development, and innovation is the power. At present, develop physical activities plays an important role in the harmonious society construction, it is the starting point of the sustainable development of the rural physical activities. Let the rural sports return to the essence of sports, this is the final purpose of the sustainable development of the rural physical activities.
