Research On Imbalance Of The Supply And Demand Of China Higher Education

Entered the 21st century, China has witnessed rapid development of higher education and achieved two important changes: one is from the planned economic system to a market economic system; the other one is from the stage of "elitism" to the stage of "popular". But two problems plaguing the Chinese higher education at all times. Firstly, how to speed up the development of higher education and to resolve the contradiction between insufficient supply and strong demand; secondly, how to resolve the conflict between shortage of advanced manpower and difficulties of college students employment. It shows that the current relationship between supply and demand in Chinese higher education is still full of contradictions, research on how to resolve these contradictions have become the urgent need of academia and community.This paper is the outcome of this background.Firstly,this paper start with the supply and demand of higher education and the main concept of it. It use theoretical framework and analysis methods of economic assumptions ,from two aspects of theory and practice to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the imbalance between supply and demand of higher education under the market economy conditions. In theory, we define the meaning of supply and demand of higher education from the concept,characteristics and behavior of higher education and its principal part, to elucidate the benefit performance of governments, universities, students and corporations, to analyze the factors affecting the supply and demand of higher education and the general performance of balance and imbalance between supply and demand. In practice, we analyze the status quo,harm and causes of imbalance between supply and demand of higher education from the subjective reasons and objective defects of the system.Secondly,by comparing the forecast of supply and demand,we get that although the contradiction between supply and demand is gradually easing, the imbalance between supply and demand will be existing in a certain period of time, and structural imbalance beginning highlighted, consumer choice and competition in the market of higher education all enhanced.Finally, on the basis of research we get the institutional innovation of resolving contradiction between supply and demand of higher education,we proposal to rely on the supply system reform and innovation, and give full play functions of the government, universities and actively mobilize the enthusiasm of enterprises, and expand the supply channels, improve the job market for college graduates. At last, ease the contradiction between supply and demand of higher education to achieve balance between supply and demand.
