The system of professional title of our institutions of higher learning has been a hot topic among theorists, governor, and college teachers in this regard ever since the reform and opening up, the system has been playing a central role in the system of college personnel management, and it thus directly relates to the employment, assessment, salary and professional development of college teachers as well as to the structure, quality of college teachers group. It will influence the discipline construction and academic creation of institutions of higher learning, and the working motivation and creativity of college teachers. And in the end, it will influence the competition ability of institutions of higher learning of our country. It's known to all that 21st century is a stage where talented people play the major roles. Countries that collect as many as talented people have the ability to stand out and prevail. Therefore, the competition ability of our institutions of higher learning exerts a great influence on the competition stand of our country in the world. In order to build up the ability of competition of our country, we have to figure out how to collect top-notch talented people into our colleges. So, it is urgent to set up an effective developing and employing system. We know that the assessment system of professional title in colleges plays an essential role in the exploration and application of human resources of colleges. So, the research into the system is essentially important. Our country's system of professional title has undergone profound changes along with the gradual deepening of the reform of our country's economic mechanism. Today, the system of professional title has been changed into the system of employment and it needs continuous improvement in practice. Therefore, how to ensure the smooth implementation and gain effects after that is the problem needs to be solved urgently by colleges. The premise to solve this problem is to analyze the change of the system of professional title of our colleges. We can come up with ways of solution to the current system based on the research on its history.According to several important phases of the reform and development of the system of professional title ever since the reform and opening up of our country and from historical perspective, this paper carries out a systematic research upon the process of transformation of the system. On the basis of presenting and commenting the process of the transformation in full respects, this paper gives a general analysis to the current system of professional title. Personal assumptions of the reform upon the system are also given out based on the theory of human resources management.
