A decision was made at the second meeting on Tibetan affair held in 1984 that education in Tibet would be supported by other provinces. In the year that followed schools or classes for Tibetans were set up in some rich cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Changzhou (Jiangsu Province). In 1997, our school was founded. Since then we have made rapid progress in the students'education. While teaching we find the Tibetan students have more difficulty in science study (especially in math) than in arts. Therefore, in order to improve their math study, we need to research the students'math study characteristics for better teaching methods. There are two parts here. The first part contains analysis of the Tibetan students'math study, math study characteristics and the difficulties they face while solving math problems by means of observation, comparison, investigation and so on. The second part is based on the fact that there is not much research in this field to obtain a new teaching mode for the Tibetan students, supported by human-based theory and my own teaching experience. It also contains several teaching cases and a teaching record of"Qeometric proportion series", presenting how to teach according to the new teaching mode to improve the students'math study abilities. At the end a practical suggestion is made on how to teach the Tibetan students'math.
