At the late 20th and the beginning of the new century, the whole world has paid unprecedented attention on the basic educational curriculum reform. The implementation of new curriculum reformation has been carried out in our country for two years, the teaching concept of new English curriculum has been known and mastered by more and more primary and secondary school teachers, but still hasn't been completely accepted and used in teaching by the broad masses of the urban and rural area teachers. So it is necessary to explore constantly in practice. By investigating four northern counties in Guilin of Guangxi, the research attempts to find out the current situation and problems existed in implementing the new English curriculum in rural junior high schools of Guangxi and even the similar national areas, so as to put forward the corresponding proposals for improving.This paper consists of three parts.The first part is the introduction, which gives a summary to the researching background,researching significance and the current situation of the issue.Based on the results of the current study, scholars did large numbers of studies of implementation background, existing problems and causes of the new English curriculum in countryside, and put forward a lot of workable suggestions, which provide nice solutions to the implementation of English curriculum in countryside. In my viewpoint, however, what they studied just concerning all subjects, not for a specific discipline, involving more theories, few of the real frontline teaching empirical studies to the rural areas. Many microscopic problems will arise constantly as the implementation of English curriculum is a complex and dynamic process. Therefore, we should do some deep research on the specific issues of the English curriculum implementation in countryside.By ways of literature analysis, questionnaire survey, interview, classroom observation and so on, the author investigates the implementation of new English curriculum of the 4 counties located in the northern parts of Guilin, such as: Xing'an, Ziyuan, Guanyang and Quanzhou, also reveals its existing problems and proposes corresponding measures, aiming at implementing smoothly and reaching the goal of the new curriculum reform.The second part is the results and analyses of investigation.Through the investigation, this part summarizes the gratifying changes of junior high schools of the counties, as well as the current problems existed in the implementation of the new English curriculum. Then analyzes its causes and tries to propose solutions to the problems. From the investigation, we know new curriculum concept have initially been recognized in the implementation of the English curriculum, the educational concepts and teaching methods of English teachers have been developed well. From time to time the new curriculum ideas are used energetically in classroom teaching process. However, I found in the investigation that many problems also exist in the implementation of the new curriculum, such as the educational concepts of English teachers have not been fundamentally changed, their overall quality is low, knowledge structure is unnew, their quality and scientific research abilities urgently need to be improved, teacher training mechanism is not sound. English curriculum cannot completely reach its goal, local curriculum resources are inadequate. Original curriculum resources have not been fully used, necessary teaching equipments are inadequate, some teaching contents are difficult to implement in rural areas because of it is prone to contain city materials. English curriculums of primary and secondary schools are not converged perfectly. The process of curriculum implementation seems formalism. Evaluation reform of exams lag behind the curriculum reformation,etc. Based on the studies of the investigation the current new curriculum reformation process and related researches, I analyzed the causes of problems and propose several suggestions on how to smoothly implement the new English curriculum in countryside junior middle schools.The third part is based on the reality of the new English curriculum in countryside junior middle schools and proposes workable suggestions.Promoting teachers'overall quality is the key to the success of the new English curriculum reformation in rural area. Whether we can integrate the new English curriculum concepts with teaching actions lies in the teachers'quality of knowledge, awareness of scientific research, awareness of developing curriculum, awareness of cooperation and professionalism and so on. English teachers need continuous learning and constantly self-molding to keep their sustainable development. Sound training mechanisms and scientific evaluation mechanisms are also the effective ways to improve teachers'overall abilities. The smooth implementation of English in junior high schools also relies on the meaningful implementation of English in primary schools and the reasonable convergence between them. Furthermore, in order to raise the teaching quality of rural schools and change weak situation, our country must assure those necessities such as systems, policies and materials, by doing which can we realize the harmonious development of the whole society.
