Nowadays, investigating educational problem from the angle of sex is one of the hot and important topics. And it is also a new trend in the future educational development. This thesis will be focused on the female roles that are regarded as the most sensitive and the easiest to be neglected in the Chinese middle school's textbook.The research is generally divided into three big parts. In the first part, the writer will make a systematic summary about the former research of sex role in the Chinese textbook. In the second part, it will especially focus on the research of the quantity, types, distribution of leading and supporting roles, etc. Through quantitative analysis about the specific data and the qualitative research, the writer finds that in the present Chinese textbooks, there are some problems, such as the ignorance and negation about female roles, the stereotypes of sex role, the obvious familiarized tendency, etc. And she will make an intensive study about the reasons to these problems. In the third part, it will make a discussion about the existing problems and about how to enrich the female role in the Chinese textbook. The writer hopes that through this research we can find some left voids and get some more useful information about this problem. The writer will also make an intensive study about the existing controversial topics in order to arouse people's attention and thinking about the female roles in the Chinese textbooks in Junior Middle School.In this paper, the writer synthetically makes use of various research methods, such as literature approach, statistical approach, the method of comparative study, the method of content analysis, etc. On the basis of former research and summary, the writer makes a careful classifying study about the female roles in the Chinese textbooks of Junior Middle School published by the People's Education Press, using statistical approach and the method of content analysis. According to these statistical data. The writer brings out some new ideas and useful suggestions bout how to enrich the female roles in the textbooks. In the thesis, the writer makes every effort to reflect scientific, authenticity and the guiding significance to the present education.
