| Ecological Ethics is the ethics of reseaching on human and nature coordinated development. It discusses the dialectical relationship between human beings and environment with the principle of ecology, and the standard of ethics and conduct in the use of the environment. The core is the natural moral responsibility and obligation to advocate for people to the natural world on the "moral concern." Ecological Ethics education, committed to treat regulating human nature, behaviour and treatment of environmental obligations to the people to foster a respect for nature, friendly nature, the Earth's homes and concern for mankind's fate, culture and consciously in the protection of the environment and social morality. To clarify what people considered as ecological ethics, adolescents and teachers in middle school were interviewed in a pilot survey, identifying 20 separate values, 9 factors affecting their perception of these ethics.Based on these results, student-questionnaires consisting of four parts and teacher's two parts were then developed to survey the main factors behind their public perception of these ecological ethics. A sample consisting of 483 adolescent students and 89 teachers was randomly selected.Ecological scenarios were used to investigate students'ecological sensitivity. Results showed that response was strongest among teachers and lowest among junior middle school students. When given a choice between the ecological ethics espoused by Taoism, Confucianism and Christianity, subjects preferred Taoism the most and Christianity the least. In terms of daily ecological behavior, teachers scored highest and junior middle school students scored lowest. There is significant attitudinal difference regarding the New Ecological Paradigm between three age groups. In spite of this, we find out that the current situation of the ecological ethics education still allows of no optimism in biological instruction of middle school. Though everybody is unsatisfied with the situation of mankind's ecological environment at present, teachers and students all have a common problem--They didn't pay enough attention to ecological ethics education in various degrees. Their ecological behaviors lag behind, and their ecological ethics consciousness remains to be improved. |
