Higher vocational education is one of the higher education forms which relates closest with the economic development and the interest of the people. The work -study integration education (WSIE) is a form of educational patterns which utilizes the two kinds of educational environments and resources of schools and enterprises to realize the organic combination of classroom instruction and case practice, to train talents with high technique to meet with various demands of enterprises.This paper analyses the theoretical basis and the connotation of WSIE in the past and current situations, defining its essential features, characteristics and requirements, and compares the development states of WSIE both at home and abroad, thus to work out a scientific working mechanism. It also proposes suggestions and relevant practical countermeasures to solve this problem. A further analysis is performed regarding the case in Suzhou Institute of Trade & Commerce.
