Sustainable development is China's strategic requirements in new century; sustainable learning is the overall features of the new education. Sustainable learning capability means that people are able to carry out their abilities to continue learning on the basis of certain knowledge and mastering effective cognitive strategies. It is the main task of high education on educating continuous learning and innovative talents to achieve their own sustainability of the current development, and it needs a joint effort by all sectors of society to complete the task. To ensure the sustainable development of high school students, we should first develop their sustainable learning ability. It is consisted with China's request to construct learning society, and to promote the comprehensive development of people.Students' sustainable learning ability requires that students study actively under the guidance of teachers as well as study independently and develop their capacity in different circumstances. The sustainable learning capabilities of middle school students include: independent study habit and ability, the habit of inquiry and learning ability, opened learning ability, innovation, the usage of information capacity, the application of computer networks, the ability to learn, a strong physical and mental health and the capacity of continuing to exceed ego.The thesis takes No. 10 Middle School in Handan City, Hebei Province as an individual case to give measures to foster students' sustainable learning ability. No. 10 Middle School tries to explore the cultivation and the development of sustainable capacity to learn through a variety of means, such as: to optimize the learning environment and train the study sustainable ability of students, to exert teachers' influence to students, to create an equal and harmonious relationship between teachers and students and have an relaxing and happy atmosphere in the classroom. It has helped build up sustainable learning ability of students by using stratified teaching, multiple evaluated methods. And it meets students' personal learning psychological needs and self-motivation efforts through the effect of communities and families. Meanwhile, the network platforms, libraries, universities and scientific research institutions all can become the social continuous learning resource centre.
