Curriculum resource is a fundamental concept in the new nationwide curriculum reform in basic education. There is a close relationship between curriculum resource and curriculum. No curriculum can exist without curriculum resource, which severs as the premise for the former. Curriculum resource is a crucial factor, determining whether curriculum goal can be achieved. Full use of the existed curriculum resource and its development are both important ways to further curriculum reform as well as improve teaching effect. According to the new concept of curriculum, curriculum resource of biology has widespread connotation and extension. Comprehensive and qualified curriculum resource is a basic requirement of the effective teaching process.This thesis analyzes the existed research results of both Chinese and foreign institutions through the approach of literature review. It discusses the concept, feature and classification of curriculum resource and its development.This thesis adopts the method of questionnaire and interview. The questionnaires are distributed to the biology teachers and students of both key high schools and ordinary high schools in Jilin, Heilongjiang, and Liaoning Province. The questionnaires are designed to find out the teachers'awareness of curriculum resource and the students'need for it. The interviewees are fifteen biology teachers in five high schools in Changchun. The results show that most of the students are in desperate need of curriculum resource. They believe that full use of the curriculum resource can improve their interest and participation in the study of biology, thus better their performances. On the contrary, the teachers questioned and interviewed show a lack of awareness of the curriculum resource. They are not quite capable of develop and use the curriculum resource in their teaching process in high schools. A considerable amount of the curriculum resource is being wasted. So, the author proposes several strategies and suggestions concerning the use and development of the curriculum resource of biology teaching in high schools: 1. the guidance of advanced curriculum concepts; 2. full use of the curriculum resource in the textbook; 3. use and development of the curriculum resource among the teachers; 4. use of the curriculum resource among the students; 5. the emphasis on classroom teaching and the construction of a harmonious learning environment; 6. the integration of the curriculum resource and the increase of its implement; 7. use and development of the curriculum resource both inside and outside of school; 8. full use of the media; 9. use of the invisible curriculum resource; 10. participation in the development of the IT resource of biology learning.
