The knowledge economy time summon the innovative talents which have the innovative spirit and the innovative ability. Training innovative talents is not only the urgent need for the development of knowledge economy time, but also the inevitably choice of the undergraduate education in research universities. Since 1980s each kind of universities, especially some research universities have explore positively how to training the innovative talents, and has obtained some experiences, but they do not made the unprecedented progress, and also do not form the effective raise model generally. Training the innovative talents is always the prominent characteristic of American higher education. Especially in American research universities which walked in the front rank of the world in despite of the idea or the effect of training innovative talents. Therefore, through comparative analysis with the model of the innovative talents training in American research universities, we can see clearly the insufficiency in the model of the innovative talents training in Chinese research universities, and can get successful experience which conform to the condition of our country.Chapter one was the introduction part; this chapter mainly elaborated the origin of the topic which the paper selected, the goal and the significance of the research, the present situation of the domestic and foreign research as well as the research method.Chapter two mainly introduced the respective concept and the characteristic of research universities in China and US, the concept and the characteristic of innovative talents, and also introduced the concept of the model of the innovative talents. The author thought the innovative talents have the innovative spirit, the innovative ideology, the innovative thought, the innovative ability, and can yield the innovative result. The characteristic of the innovative talents has the generous knowledge, the synthetical innovative thought, the intense innovative ideology, the prominent practice ability and the good innovative character. Then, this chapter also elaborated the theory foundation including: Economic foundation, pedagogy foundation as well as psychology foundation.Chapter three was the crucial chapter; this chapter separately elaborated the present situation of innovative talents training in China and US from the aspect of training goal, teaching system, educational model and campus environment, and has carried on the comparative analysis of model of the innovative talents in Chinese and American research universities. Chapter four was the practice exploration of innovative talents training in Chinese and American high level research universities. In the aspect of America, the author has selected Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has carried on the investigation and the analysis of innovative talents training in these two universities. In the aspect of China, the author has selected Beijing University and HuaZhong University of Science and Technology, and also summarizes the experience of innovative talents training in these two universities.Chapter five was the countermeasure research of innovative talents training in Chinese research universities. It proposed enlightenment of innovative talents training to our country's research universities by profiting from the successful experience of the innovative talents training in American research universities.Chapter six was the conclusion, the author thought innovative talents training is a system, it should be synthetically construct in omni-directionally and the multiple perspectives from the teacher to the student, from the idea to the system and from the software environment to the hardware condition. Each research universities have its respective characteristic in the model of the innovative talents training; it can not be blindly imitate others.
