| Solving mathematical problems is one of the basic abilities of middle school teachers and is also an important professional quality of college students majoring in mathematics education. The results of the survey and testing demonstrate that many college mathematics education majors are not quite competent in solving middle school mathematical problems. Actually, this ability shows an apparent descending tendency in recent years. With regard to its causes, this paper holds that the development of college mathematics education majors' ability of solving middle school mathematical problems should be designated as an important aspect of the assessment of their skills, and that various effective means should be adopted to maintain and develop their ability of solving mathematical problems in their college education so that they can be rapidly competent for the task of teaching middle school mathematics. |
