Middle schools in Fujian Province have been in a new round of educational reforms, that is, the implementation of New Curriculum Standards for High Schools since the fall of 2006. New Mathematics Curriculum Standards for High Schools is a very important section of New Curriculum Standards, and its implementation is paid a great deal of attention on all along. This thesis is based on the teaching practice of the new teaching materials in Senior 1 under New Curriculum Standards during the past year, taking the principles of educational theories as a guidance, integrating the correlated research achievements of the subject of mathematics, making use of many research methods of educational science, such as documents research, comparison research, analysis research, investigation research and so on, to appraise the new teaching materials in theory. Especially, this thesis takes the teaching materials published by People's Education Press as the chief sources, analyses the section of Solid Geometry in the three sets of teaching materials published in 1990, 2004, 2006, probes deeply into their class-hour plans, teaching contents, scales of each chapter, teaching methods, requirements and goals and exercises arrangements, and establishes a mathematics model to analyze the difficulty of the teaching materials totally and quantitatively. This thesis is made up of four chapters. Chapter 1 shows relative research background of this thesis. Chapter 2 analyses three sets of teaching materials published by People's Education Press and compares their contents, class-hour plans, class-hour distribution of each chapter and section, teaching methods, and content requirements. Chapter 3 establishes a mathematics model and makes use of the two indexes, comparable depth and broadness, to analyze quantitatively the overall difficulty of the teaching materials of three different periods. Chapter 4 investigates and analyses the conditions of using new teaching materials and puts forward some improving proposals, with the hope that it could be a profitable reference to the teaching reform and development of mathematics education for common high schools in our country.
