| Gratitude has a long historical tradition. Gratitude education is one of the key targets of virtue education for Heigher Education. However, with the development of economy and society, the gratitude deficiency in undergraduates is becoming increasingly serious. Therefore, it is of great realistic significance to propose the means and ways to execute gratitude education from the perspective of ideological and political education and psychology.Gratitude has been defined in a number ways by philosophers, anthropologists, sociologists and psychologists throughout history. It has been frequently discussed in Chinese traditional culture, western ideological field and religious doctrines. Maxism elevates gratitude to a spiritual feature from the angle of human nature and human value. With the development of time, perception of gratitude has made a big leap. With the help of a gratitude questionnaire designed by others, based on psychological basic theory of gratitude research, this thesis analyzes the present gratitude situation of the undergraduatesAccording to the result of the questionnaire, a comparison of difference in gratitude level is made among the undergraduates of different gender, university, grade, and major .After a comprehensive analysis of major domains of gratitude research, such as personality, happiness, gratitude moral function and expression, the thesis discusses the causes and harm of gratitude deficiency and summarizes the discipline and characteristics of the gratitude education among modern undergraduates.According to a comprehensive analysis of the results, the thesis makes a practical study of gratitude education and proposes the content, principles, measures of gratitude education whose core is an integrate gratitude educational system involved with school, society, family and internet directed by Maxism. In the end, the thesis emphasizes that gratitude education to the undergraduates from the poor family and the countryside should be enforced.
