With the development of network technology and the deepening of Lifelong Learning ideas and the advance of education informationization process, the construction of elementary education online resource has received more and more attention. Constructivism puts emphasis on using information resources to support the learning and thinks that constructivism learning environment should offer relative information resources including image, audio, video, flash and so on, which are selective, abundant, convenient for learners. Web multimedia information resources play a great role in construction of the constructivism learning environment and learning of the learners. At present, online elementary education resource has have a certain expression on amount, but there are still a great demands, moreover, teachers and students of primary and secondary schools have got comparatively rich text information, so their demands for Web multimedia are relatively greater. With the continuous development of education informationization, elementary education Web multimedia resource has been richer and richer. It is very necessary to classify elementary education Web multimedia resource effectually, and build a unified and normative classification system to supply a ordered structure for elementary education online resource that intersperses among internet and let it form an organized whole in order to access and make use of elementary education Web multimedia more easily. Therefore, this thesis studies theme classification of elementary education Web multimedia, builds classification system of that and collects a large number of elementary education Web multimedia web pages to do classification experiments which have got some better experimental results. This thesis impacts construction of the constructivism learning environment actively.This thesis defines the types of Web multimedia resource that is to be researched and analyzes every type. In view of content complexity of Web multimedia resource, this thesis has only studied Web multimedia classification by theme.Before building the classification system of elementary education Web multimedia, this thesis investigated and studied more than 120 elementary education multimedia resource websites. It mainly investigates the situations of distributing on elementary education online multimedia for every subject and every type, the modes of displaying and distributing situations on interrelated text of Web multimedia resource as well as the mode of existence of Web multimedia resource in web pages, then analyzes and summarizes the result of investigations. Based on the result of investigations, this thesis builds the classification system of elementary education Web multimedia, collects catalogues of main subjects of primary and secondary schools and builds 16 subject feature dictionaries for primary school, junior high school and senior middle school.Based on the above work, this thesis designs and develops a theme system of Elementary Education Web Multimedia Classification. By the classification system, it also classifies Web multimedia through extracting interrelated text and its theme. And by its functions, the system can be divided into four main parts: the part of gaining metadata of web page, the part of handling and analyzing of source code of web page, the part of extraction and pretreatment of interrelated text of Multimedia and the part of Classification by theme of Multimedia. Integral structure and realization of every part are introduced in detail and the experiment is made. The result proves that the system is effective. At last the thesis points out the deficiency of the system and the problems which need further research.
