This thesis mainly focuses on the causes and changing strategies of the phenomenon that students have difficulties in studying mathematics in junior high school with curriculum standard textbook, edited by East China Normal University in the area of counties and towns in Pearl River Delta. This research is to serve as a reference to help students with study problems in math(?)matics in junior high school in the similar area. As it is pointed out in questionnaires and interviews, with curriculum standard textbook of junior high school, the number of students who have problem in mathematics learning increases instead of decreasing. The author of the thesis penetrates into the causes from the aspects of characteristics of education in county and town and edition of curriculum standard textbook. Those causes include: out-of-date parents' education expectation, teachers' neglect of students' difficulty, differences of mathematics study method between primary school and junior high school, excessive circle structure of curriculum standard textbook, which is unsuitable in junior high education, and among others. After researching into teaching concept, methodology and strategy, the author puts forward strategies, such as strengthening study motivation, educating according to multiple levels and creating a proper interacting study atmosphere, on the purpose of changing the current phenomenon.
