Physics is a subject based on observation and experiment. Physical demonstrating experiments play an important role in stimulating the students'learning interest, helping them understand the essence of physics, and fostering their ability to observation and thinking.In this paper, first of all, the common approaches of demonstrating experiment in general physics are systematically analyzed, including magnification, comparison, transformation, simulation, balance and unbalance, stroboscope, trace-show, projection, etc. In addition, a great number of practical examples exhibit that these approaches can be successfully applied to the physical demonstrating experiments. Then, some specific experimental means are thoroughly investigated from the view of technique, combined with the content of demonstrating experiments in general physics. On the whole, the results of investigation will provide a crucial reference for the design and improvement of demonstrating experiments of general physics.
