The Research On The Situation And Affecting Factor Of University Student's Dormitory Culture

Attempting to apply the related theories of sociology and employ questionnaire investigation and in-depth interview, this paper describes the situation of the university students' dormitory culture, inquires into its affecting factors, analyses its main problems and puts forward relevant strategy.Firstly, the paper describes the situation of the dormitory culture at universities from the structure and function of the dormitory culture. The research shows that the spiritual culture of dormitory is positive and highly-motivated as a whole; the effect of informal institution of the dormitory culture is stronger than of its formal institution; the behaviors of interpersonal interaction are in harmony yet there is deviation in the behaviors of internet and love; the dormitory's material cultural environment is becoming life-oriented, its function is diversifying and its exterior environment is becoming community-oriented. The dormitory culture plays an important role in the construction of the academic atmosphere, ideological and political education, and mental health education, where its functions and dysfunctions co-exist with the former being the mainstream.Secondly, the paper completely explores the affecting factors of the dormitory culture from macro level. The research shows that individual characteristics, such as gender, grade and so on, have significant influences on the dormitory culture. From the point of gender, the academic atmosphere in girls' dormitory is stronger than that in boys' dormitory, while the interpersonal relationship in boys' dormitory is more harmonious than that in girls' dormitory. From the point of grade, there is the highest frequency of dormitory conflicts in junior students and comparatively a lower frequency in those of freshman and senior year; there is the highest democracy in activity participation in junior dormitory whose enthusiasm is relatively lower; the time spend on computer increases with grade. From the point of family factor, interpersonal environment has stronger influence on the students from big cities than that on those from rural areas; family income has effect on the occurrence of clique behavior in dormitory, and the students of higher family income (more thanï¿¥30000 per year) are more inclined to form clique. From university factor, management system of university have offered organizational safeguard for the construction of the dormitory culture and the campus culture have directive effect on the dormitory culture. From social factor, political development affects the development direction of the dormitory culture directly, economy is the determinative factor of dormitory culture and the social culture is the macro environment for the development of dormitory culture.Thirdly, the paper sums up the main problems in the dormitory culture at present mainly including the lack of subject consciousness in university students, the internet culture's attack on the dormitory culture, the lack of management system in the construction of the dormitory culture, formalism in the construction of the dormitory culture and the lack of investment for the construction of the dormitory culture.Lastly, on the basis of the research above, the paper puts forward the strategy for reinforcing the construction of the dormitory culture. It claims that, to reinforce the dormitory culture construction, creating a comfortable dormitory material environment is the foundation, activating the students' subject consciousness is the key, constructing a positive and healthy spiritual cultural atmosphere is the root, setting up and improving the related management system is the guarantee and strengthening the guidance on the students' behavior is the emphasis.
