Chinese aesthetic education thoughts in the early 20's centuryinvolves varies problems. And based on the analysis of the thoughts ofliang Qichao, Wang Guowei and Cai Yuanpei before 1930s, this articlediscusses and researches the main feature of the aesthetic educationthoughts at that time and states the importance of its theory'sprerequisite. Furthermore, it inquires its significance to thecontemporary aesthetic ducation theory.The first part of the article mainly introduces aesthetic educationthought of Wang Guowei. In his theory, academic independence is the baseand art is of the same importance as religion, predicting the elite trend.Also, his thought is used for cultivating the perfect guy by emphasizingthe influence of the aesthetic education, although moral education playsthe nuclear roles. So in the very beginning, his thought starts with thearea covering the human problems about how to get rid of the suffering,which decides the direction of his thinking. As for Wang Guowei's thought,attaining the answer of human being's essence and the mental support ismost important. Accordingly, he stresses the point that aestheticeducation rescues and liberates the individual life.The second part mostly analyses the thought of Li Qichao, including hismain idea of the education of the interest and sentiment. The articlecompares their background, cause, and character, pointing out they havethe same essence and purpose, that is, as a kind of social education,they focus on improving the quality of nationality. In a word, he thinksthat cultivating the people and strengthen the power of our country isthe goal of his thought from the early accurate taste to the later generaltaste.The third part of the article analyses the aesthetic education thoughtof Cai Yuanpei by expounding "the thought relys on aesthetic education instead of religion". The author recommends the humanitarianism valuesof Cai, and completely analyses the proposition in an all-round waythrough the religion's development, the drawbacks of religions of one'sown essence, religion and relations of education, etc. So the motivationof Cai is to reconstruct people's belief and to maintain socialstability. At the same time the article explains the interreaction betweenaesthetic education, moral and worldview education world under the systemof his "complete personality". He points out some characteristics anddefects:the harmonious pursuit and neglect of the individual character.The fourth part of the thesis analysises the overall characteristic:beauty makes people, enlightenment saves the nation in the early 20thcentury, also points out it exists "for the individual" and "for thesociety" inclinations. The thesis thinks that it is necessary tointrospect the aesthetic premise. As we realizes it, we can understandand appraise accurately early aesthetic education thought. Finally thethesis points out the important enlightenment we get from the earlyaesthetic education thought is totally liberating aesthetic education andletting the aesthetic education develop freely.
