At present, the assessment of teaching in higher educational institution isbeing in progress all over the country, becoming a tool for managing highereducation. Although it has played a definite role, it has many defects, so, reserchon assessment of teaching is very important not only for theories but also forpractice. The author will engage in studying under the theory of philosophy,pedagogy and so on.In the structure, firstly, the article proposes the questions and analyses theresearch actuality of assessment of teaching in college and university, then putsforward the study perspective. Secondly, the article bring forward the philosophybasis of study。Assessment is a kind of value judgment in essence. Its'standard are the needs of subject value and it judges on the value object based onabiding on the attribute of the value object. So, the second part of the articleanalyses the needs of main value and the attribute of value object as the guidingof assessment.Thirdly, the article analyses the assessment situation from theseaspects:the assessment body, the assessment standard,the assessmentmethod, the assessment principle and so on, and points out the shortage of theassessment actuality. The article pays little attention to discussing the positiveinfluence of promoting the improvement of the quality of teaching. (Not that itdo not exist.) Then, the article analyses the influences of the actuality of theassessment of teaching in college and university and probes into the reasonsthat result in this situation. At the end, the article tries to bring forward severaladvices to improve the assessment of teaching in higher educational institution.
