The Idea Of Universities Viewed From Diversified Angle

Fixing on proper and effective orientation and having its own particular features and superiority are important development strategies for universities,which are on the background of mass higher education. But in fact there is no obvious diversity between the development orientation of researching universities and applying universities; contrarily there is absolute identity among many-universities,i.e.,nearly all the universities try to expand into a researching and comprehensive university which is of high level and first-class.The end is the waste of manpower and material resources,on one hand, the graduates are facing with an embarrassing situation for they are neither researching talents nor applying talents; on the other hand the enterprises are operating under capacity for the shortage of higher talent or primary talent.So it is an important object worth our discussion to promote universities' proper and effective orientation. And yet, an important premise of universities' proper and effective orientation is that universities know themselves rationally,which includes knowing one's essence and function.For if a university does not know what it is,it cannot know what to do and how to do; furthermore, logically,different kinds of universities should have different recognition of them and have their own idea.So the dissertation will probe into the idea of university from the angles of diversity. It explains the selection of subject's background and the significance of the study,introduces research method and the training thought of the study.The second part explains the significance of the idea of university during the development of universities,explains Sino-foreign scholars' description of the essence of the idea of university,basing on the description the author put forward the essence of the idea of university in her own eyes.The third part expresses the essence of identified idea of university,analyses the factors why identified idea of university is so popular,introduces universities' difficult situation, which is caused by identified idea of university.The forth part demonstrates the necessity of proposing a diversified idea of university, which is the objective need of dialectical relationship between identified idea of university and diversified idea of university;which is the objective need of harmonious higher-education ecosystem;which is the objective need of the logic of higher education; which is the best answer of thinking over the idea of university.The fifth part expounds the essence of diversified idea of university from the angle of what a university is; what a university can do and how to do,therefore the diversity between the idea of researching university and the idea of applying university is presented clearly.
