To study the effect of Illicium verum Hook.f preparation on immune function and physical perfoumance in incremental exercising-mice. Peros, continuously. The subjects were randomly divided into 10 groups--the control rest group(Contr), the control rest group with the administration of Illicium verum Hook.f preparation(Med), the CY group(CY), the administrative CY group(MCY), the middle-exercise group(Exe), the administrative middle-exercise group(ME), the swimming from exhaustion to death group(Exh), the administrative swimming from exhaustion to death group(MExh ), the over-exercise group(OE ) and the administrative over-exercise group(MOE). The results showed as follow:①The body weights of the mice in the administrative exercise group were less than those in the other groups ,but the duration from swimming exhaustion to death was longer than that in the control group.②Illicium verum Hook.f preparation could improve the thymus indexes of the CY group, no influence on other groups'thymus weight but the weight of spleen was increased; When the immunologyfunction of mice were inhibited by CY and over-exercise, the weight of spleen was increased significantly.③It was found that the area of splenic mudule and germinal central was larger in the PO spleen than in the control.④Illicium verum Hook.f preparation and middle exercise could increase the rate of lymphocytes compared to the control group, it was enhanced significantly when the immunology function of mice was inhibited by CY or over-exercise.⑤Illicium verum Hook.f preparation and middle exercise could enhance the phagocytec actibity of peritoneal macrophage compared to each other control group (P<0.05 and P<0.01). It showed Illicium verum Hook.f preparation could promote the nonspecific immune function of mice.⑥The excretion level of IL-2 from spleen lymphocytes of the mice in the administrative exercise group was remarkably higher than that in the other groups.⑦The immunohistochemistry positive reactive cells and products of NK at the spleen changed dramatically.Conclusion: Illicium verum Hook.f preparation can potentiate immune function in training-mice.
