As the developing of globalization, the concept of the Education for International Understanding (EIU) has more effect all over the world. The EIU is sparked by the UNESCE (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) and is supported by many countries'governments. It depends on the idea of international understanding. Its cause is to develop the understanding and tolerance among different cultural background, races, faith and countries, districts and areas. It also hopes to enhance their corporation to deal with the important events which exist in the world. Then people can understand themselves and others better through the future recognizing of the world.English education is an important subject in EIU and has big effect in it. As all we know, English is used the most in international communications. The understanding of different nations is on the basis of language utilization. China attaches importance to the English education since the reformation and opening. But we had wrong idea in English teaching before. The phenomenon of only grammar teaching,"mute English", learning for tests, and learning without use exists in many areas. So their must be reformation in English teaching.This paper is on the basis of the research on EIU. It analyses the problems about the EIU in middle school teaching and gives the strategies to solve them. The paper is divided into four chapters:The first chapter analyses the history and nowadays situation of EIU. The characters are concluded. The EIU is introduced in the macroscopical way. The second chapter researches the demand of EIU from the .The third chapter analyses the shortcomings in the EIU in our middle school English teaching and also analyses the reasons of the shortcomings.The forth chapter gives the strategies for EIU in middle school English teaching. It contains:the school culture and the organizing of the activities out of class; the improvement of the culture accomplishment of teachers: research the text books for IUE; use the resources to improve the efficiency in class; the development of evaluation.
