Research On Current Status And Development Countermeasures Of Social Sports Specialty In Colleges Of Henan Province

The social sports specialty was listed as a formal specialty by the Ministry of Education in the 4th Universities directory amendment in 1998. Since then, it has developed rapidly in our country. By the end of 2005, over 200 colleges have established the social sports specialty in our country. And by the end of September 2006, there are 18 colleges which have established the social sports specialty in Henan province, among these are nine colleges. In the recent years, the problems that should attract the concerns of the management department of college and all the leadership in college that has set up the social sports specialty are as follows: how about it's present condition in Henan province? How about it's survival environment? What are the handicaps existing in the development process? Which countermeasures should be adopted? Only when these problems are solved perfectly, can the social sports specialty be developed as an exquisite specialty and it has its own features, can a sustained development of it be assured, and it better satisfy the demands of the development of social sports and human beings.By adopting the methods of documentation, investigation, statistics, logic analysis and etc, the author makes a comprehensive research on the current status of the social sports specialty of colleges in Henan province, attempting to find out the existing problems, propose improving measures and offer references to the development plans, specialty construction and reform of the social sports specialty of colleges in Henan province.The result of research shows that after five years of development, the construction of the social sports specialty in colleges in Henan province has begun to shows its effects, and a diversified human resource cultivation pattern is established. But in the management of the specialty, there are still some problems, which include:(1)The curriculum is not scientific enough to pay high attention to technological practice, the social service fields and the types of the trained human resources are similar and the mutual supplement of specialties is not realized.(2)Inadequate teachers and faculty can hardly satisfy the need of the development of the specialty.(3)Due to the shortage of teaching funds, some colleges have built up enough practice bases, essential gyms and facilities for the specialty.(4)The integral level of sports technique and culture of the students when they enrolled to colleges is lower, and is hard to satisfy the need of some specialty direction; and student'specialty thoughts are not stable enough.(5)Subjected to the development level of economy and society, the employment market for the graduates is not flourished.To deal with these challenges, following suggestions are put forward:(1)The management department of colleges in Henan province should establish the short-term and long-term development planning of the social sports specialty, strengthen the macroeconomic management, strengthen the existing methods of entrance examination, further improve the professional examination and approval system, strictly enforce the vetting procedure.(2)The colleges which are considering to establish the social sports specialty should take the social needs and an attitude to be responsible for students as the starting point, and should not be moved by.(3)The colleges which have established the specialty should do as follows: reposition it and make a choice as for the types of the trained human resources, adjust the course constitution, put a much value on practical teaching, improve school resources, Strengthen the teacher troop construction, improve the teaching condition and strengthen students'vocational ideology. (4)The government should make great efforts to support the development of athletics industry and set down relative policies to improve the existence environment of the social sports specialty.
