Drama is incredibly charming because of its unique value of literature and art. Consisting of literature, directing, performance, music and fine art, drama is the arts touching our hearts, enhancing our spirit and purify our souls. For that reason, drama teaching becomes an essential part of Chinese teaching in high school. In high school, not only the reform of compulsory Chinese course but also the reform of the elective Chinese course contains drama teaching. However, it is still being ignored in practical teaching. Many teachers pay little attention to the charm of drama, and often take it as the subsidiary to novel, prose, and poem; some even choose not to mention it in their teaching. In addition, at present, many researches of Chinese drama teaching in middle school are just practical work aimed at how to teach drama, such as the exploration of different teaching methods and important teaching content and so on. These achievements have great value of application, but they are not profound enough, for they lack the instruction of the corresponding scientifical theory. It revealed that our researches are insufficient, which also arouses the writer's concern. This paper is composed of the following three parts:First part begins with the distinction between the concepts of drama and drama literature. It clearly pointed out the value of drama teaching on cultivating the students' Chinese attainment. what's more, emphasizing the characteristics of the works of drama literature, the first part analyzed the important points of how to instruct students to appreciate the works of drama literature in teaching.Second part focuses on drama teaching in Chinese compulsory course in high school. Having analyzed the purpose of drama teaching in compulsory course, the second part discusses the ways to carry out the compulsory course of drama teaching, summarizes its teaching modes and gives related cases of teaching. At the same time, this part rationalized the relationship between compulsory course and elective course of Chinese drama in high school.Third part, at the very beginning, gives a brief introduction to elective Chinese course in high school, and then it analyzed the significance of elective drama course. Finally, it focuses on the teaching strategies and the teaching modes of elective Chinese drama course; moreover, it designs the teaching plan which aims at the study of "the differences between drama in the east and west ".
