The new curriculum reform promotes exploring teaching, and encourages the change of learning methods. Exploring teaching is the important premise of exploring education. It requires teachers to help students to be proactive in picking up topics at school and home, analyzing the problems, acquiring related knowledge, and applying them to solve the problems in a research fashion. Exploring teaching empowers student's creativity, and will benefit their personality and academics development lifelong, and therefore is the key to the success of the curriculum reform.This paper first clarifies the origin and intention of the exploring teaching, and secondly investigates the teacher's interpretation of it, school administration's attitude towards it, society's acceptance of it, and teachers' qualification to support it. This paper is based on random surveys, individual interviews, and classroom observation for the Chemistry education in the local area. It provides the first hand objective data in this field, and the analysis of these data reveals that the evaluation system of exploring teaching is lagging far behind, the society and parent's support is much less enthusiastic, teacher's qualification is insufficient, and the teacher's training is out-of-sync of the latest trends.Based on the analysis of the investigation, this paper also comes up with the corresponding proposals to address the problem: Exploring teaching should be tailored to the actual situation in each individual school; it should be phased into practice step by step; teacher training about it should be comprehensive and effective.I wish this paper will get attention from my colleagues and the society, and hopefully, it can help the education and administration departments to make better decisions, and therefore benefits the curriculum reform.
