The new curriculum's calling for the overall promotion of students'abilities gives a new demand on teaching which contains the need of efficiency and lightening students'overweight burden by sufficient use of in-class time.The purpose of teaching should be evaluating the quality of people, satisfying the different requirements of diverse individuals, providing the young a global view along with a national spirit, forming their sense of social responsibility and life planning, combining individual development with the development of the society.To accomplish as aims, most importantly, we need to change our ideas of teaching. However, the history subject is still in a less noticed situation. For a long time, teaching history is only considered as the demand of examinations. Students, teachers and even some parents concern more on the score rather than the significant role of history in the training of students'humanistic qualities.The reasons for the incline contain the exam-oriented education system as well as the editing of the teaching materials and classroom teaching. In this thesis, the author tries to reveal the original features of history teaching and exert the function of history through recomposition the teaching materials and improving teaching methods in a way which concerns about the requirements for students'score, and at the same time gives attention to the training of student's overall qualities.
