Education is related to the growth of generations. To a nation or a nationality, education always plays an important role. Nowadays, the educational condition of china has a lot worthy of studying and reforming. In the education of China still existing seriously problems, such as the contradiction between exam-oriented education and quality education, and the contradiction between the education goal and the social demand, and so on, which all directly influence the china's development. Therefore, it is imperative to reform the education in China; concerning which results in the importance of the research on the education reform.Along with the reform of the elementary education course being implemented all over the country, the research-styled study showing modern education principles, is not only an independent subject, but also has be applied into other subjects as a kind of important study method and teaching strategy. And it will tremendously promote china's educational development.Therefore, whether the research-styled study can be applied into the geography teaching in high school has become an important task.This thesis focuses on studying the research-based in high schools and putting it into practice. The main concerns are the theory, teaching practices and experimental cases, including the following facets: firstly, it expatiates on the definition of research-based study, its history and present situation at home and abroad as well as its features and patterns; secondly, the author conduct a series of research on the connotation, the significance, objectives and the principles and strategies of developing research-based studying in geography study; thirdly, the author probes hoe to put the research-based study into practice in middle school geography teaching and studying from the perspective of teaching practices and in-class cases; fourthly, the author sets forth that carrying out the research-based study in middle school geography teaching will upgrade the vocational qualities for the middle school geography, improve the comprehensive abilities of students and thus brings about a deep revolutionized change in the field of basic education.
